Physiotherapy

Specialists in Rehab Care

At Guelph's West Side Physiotherapy, our therapists and support staff are dedicated to providing the highest quality of care. They have years of experience evaluating and treating a wide variety of orthopedic and neurological conditions.

We are aware of the advantages of immediate treatment and of minimizing the post injury inactive period. Manual therapy plus an effective rehabilitation exercise program, with an emphasis on reintegration back to full activity, can help prevent recurrence of the same and similar problems.

A detailed program of 'one-on-one' therapy, exercise and pain control strategies is provided in a professional and friendly environment.  Communication with other health care professionals, including timely reports to physicians, is an important part of our client centered approach.

Sport Rehab Programs for Competitive and Recreational Athletes

Our therapists treat each patient as a separate and unique case. Besides addressing the patient's immediate symptoms and rehabilitating the injury at hand, we analyze their movement patterns to get to the underlying cause of the injury. We then work to correct those movement patterns and ultimately work to decrease the chance of the injury repeating.

We also understand that complete recovery looks different for each individual patient, depending on the activities of their daily lives. With this understanding, we incorporate the patient's lifestyle needs into their rehab...better preparing their joints, tissues, and neuromuscular system for their real-life demands.

Motor Vehicle Accidents

Physiotherapy can help you get better faster

At Guelph's West Side Physiotherapy, our therapists and support staff are dedicated to providing expert care.  If you have been involved in a Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) and require treatment for your injuries, you will need to contact your Auto Insurer. Your Physiotherapist can assess and provide treatment for your injuries. A Doctor’s referral is not required and treatment may begin immediately.

As of September 1, 2010 a new treatment program called the Minor Injury Guideline (MIG) has taken effect influencing the treatment of the majority of individuals injured in an MVA. It is a pre-approved program meaning that if your injuries are such that you qualify for treatment within the program you are automatically covered by your auto insurance.

Your treatment will be covered for up to 12 weeks following your first visit. You will decide, with your Physiotherapist, how often to attend appointments and what treatment strategies are most appropriate for you. Whiplash (neck pain) is very common following motor vehicle accidents. Our Physiotherapists have extensive knowledge and skills in treating Whiplash and other MVA related injuries. We understand that being involved in a Motor Vehicle Accident can be a very traumatic and overwhelming event. Our therapy staff is compassionate and highly trained to assist you with your recovery. Our office staff can also help you with any questions you may have regarding making a claim and submitting information to your Auto Insurance.

Work Related Injuries - WSIB claims

Rehab focussed on getting you back on your feet

The Worker’s Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) covers a worker for treatment for injuries which have occurred at the workplace. Assessment and treatment on approved claims are directly billed to WSIB and you are not required to make payment.

If you have suffered a work related injury, you are required to inform your employer as soon as possible. You should also contact your physiotherapist so they can fully assess you and inform WSIB. You may contact your doctor; however, a doctor’s referral is not required for physiotherapy coverage with WSIB.

Low back injuries often occur with heavy or repetitive lifting while at work. If you have suffered a low back injury while at work, coverage through WSIB is automatically approved for the first 28 days following your injury. Contact us immediately following your injury so that a physiotherapist can assess your back injury and initiate treatment as soon as possible.
